Tried out an alternate way of making ship models using PXCEL to paint textures. There are some bugs and the workflow is very finicky, but it looks promising. Please excuse the bright colors; these would get replaced at runtime by teamcolors. I think the time spent painting the model is equivalent to the extra modelling time spent making more geometrically complex ships.
